Hailing from the rural landscapes of Indiana, Thornton's roots were firmly entrenched in the heart of farmlands. His passion for sports, particularly basketball, propelled him toward an athletic scholarship granted by Butler University. His tenure in academia was brief and he enlisted in the United States Air Force and subsequent tours in Vietnam.
Following his honorable discharge, the desire to continue his impactful journey continued. This resolve led him to study Criminal Psychology at the University of Arizona, a pivotal choice that ultimately guided him to the Tucson Police Department. Across his span in law enforcement, his dedication and steadfast commitment shone through his multifaceted career.
A significant juncture arose during an arrest, where he confronted a severe spinal injury, inflicting him with intermittent paralysis. Emerging from this ordeal as a testament to his resilience, he forged an indomitable path to recovery.
Enrolling at the New York Institute of Technology, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a career in Kinesiology, a triumph that showcased his unyielding spirit. Bolstered by his spouse Victoria's unwavering support, they embarked on a remarkable 25-year journey, utilizing their profound knowledge of human physiology and movement to guide individuals on their quest to regain mobility and enrich their lives through purposeful exercise.
Ed and Victoria reside in southern Arizona, their home for 28 years.
